After listening to him back in the day, I knew we had a least one thing in common..the love of New Country music. After a phone call, we met in the Prohibition Room in the Pineapple Bank building at 23rd and Classen. I discovered that he had not only been in radio since he was 14 but that he loves to play Skee- Ball as much as I do! Over a few cold ones at his favorite hang out Chelino's, I explained to him what I was going to do with my new radio station. That it was not just not about NEW country but it was about the people who listen to it and what exactly they want to hear. I learned that he was involved once in 3 car accidents in one day without ANY beer involved..thus came the name CRASH. He has won CMA Awards for "Station of the Year" when he worked in Dallas...I knew then I had to have him in morning drive. I describe him to many as Speedy Gonzales after drinkin a Rock Star.. Help me in welcoming my new friend Crash to my NEW station- Jake

Ok, guess which guy is my buddy? Actually, they both are. You might know the guy to the left in the picture who looks like he just smelled something. He is a native of Oklahoma. A radio pro with over 24 years experience. He lives in Mustang and loves this community as much as I do. He's a family guy who loves his kids and his wife -STILL- gotta respect that. He is "almost" a pro golfer even. While we were hangin at Buffalo Wild wings on the Expressway I learned that he was darn close to landing the role of Chevy Chase in the movie Vacation...not to sure if I believe that but eh... ok. Towards the end of our visit , I found out he also was an Award winner. He picked up a OAB throughout his time. Our deal to take care of your at workday?-- Free Starbucks for him as long as he is working for me.---I sip to that. Help me welcome my buddy Kevin to my new station. -Jake |
So, my girlfriend told me I needed a female. I said "Baby, I have you". She said.."No, I meant on your radio station." While on the lookout, I heard about a girl from Texas. My buddy actually told me about her. The only reason I would consider a girl from texas was because she originally was from Oklahoma. My buddy said he thought she really knew her stuff and she wasn't some diva. She loved hangin out at Toby's when she could .. I found out she married a great guy from Match.com who was from Oklahoma and she was already here in the city. She too has won some awards, a ACM and a CMA for personality of the year. I figured if I chose her, all my staff would be award wining. A girl with personality who Tweets? I could not resist... Help me welcome a real nice gal that my girlfriend approves of.. Becky. -Jake |
